After a lot of playing around with different materials and positioning them i finally decided on the set up of my portrait. I decided to make it more me to do a line drawing of myself over the collage in the final draft.

self portrait

I've been assigned the project of making a self portrait collage by Ben Butcher. Over the past couple weeks i have been making sketches of how to set it up, searching for materials to use that represent me and make sense, and researching other artists who have done this. I was asked to make the portrait using materials i find like fabrics or pieces of pop cans, letters, anything, and use it to put into a collage. I havent made a collage of anything since elementry school and never used materials other than paint and pencils to make a potrait so i spent a lot of time trying different ways of piecing this together. Unfortunatley for whatever reason my copier is not working so i can't put up pictures of my sketches just yet but hopefully i can get it to work tomorrow!

some thumbnails of the robot idea. I sketched it all out almost in a graphic novel format. I started making a little story of a robot coming from outer space trying to blend in at school, only one boy seems to realize its a robot! although its not a very good picture of it :/

robots!

in all of my art classes i am used to doing contour line drawings of figures. when i was told to do sketches of robots for kids i wasn't sure what to do! these are some little doodles i have done the past few days thinking about robots.
